Whopper Plopper Review

This is not really a Whopper Popper Review, but it’s more of a testament that this lure is a winner. The Whopper Plopper gets two thumbs up from the TinBoats crew. I suggest you go get one or three and try them out. If you have been wanting to try topwater fishing or want to try something different, then travel the path and buy one. You will not be disappointed.

What is this Whopper Plopper you speak of?

The whopper plopper is a topwater hard bait that looks like a stickbait but has a rotating paddle in the rear. The paddle tail rear reminds me of a whale tail and it makes the lure “plop” on the surface which causes ferocious strikes at the surface. The lure comes in many sizes but I purchased the smallest available (90) and it works perfect. You can cast these lures a mile.

My Own Thoughts

TinBoats Approved! This lure is awesome. It is so easy a caveman can do it. The Whopper Plopper is exactly the kind of lure you want to give to a child to use if they want to learn how to fish topwater. The action of the lure will keep them occupied, the lure will float so it will not get hung up, and the ratio of hits to misses is high. All you need to do is cast it out and reel it in. When a fish bites, set the hook. But this lure is not just for kids, its for the kid in all of us. Who doesn’t like a topwater blowup? They are the best!

How popular is this lure? How about a dedicated Facebook page called Whopper Plopper Nation. Take a few minutes and check it out. There is something wrong with you if after checking out that page you are still convinced that lure does not work. Even I catch fish on it, so you know it must work. Honestly, do yourself the favor and pick up a whopper plopper and try it. Start with the small size (90), and go from there. You can use a Medium-Heavy to Heavy rod for this lure, and most prefer braid which I also use. I would love to hear your thoughts and comments on the whopper plopper below.
