Powell has introduced a new rod for 2012 call the Powell Diesel. Here is the description directly from the Powell website:
Powell Rods has every angler and every budget covered. The Diesel series of rods boasts Powell’s long standing tradition of performance and innovation at a very refreshing price. Do not let the low cost fool you. These are rods designed for serious anglers that have been proven through relentless testing by Powell’s top pro staff. Available in 4 models, the Diesel rods will handle a multitude of techniques from finesse to power fishing. Featuring comfortable EVA split foam grips with no foregrip, new C-Guides and reel seats, and D-Cell Multi-Matrix matte graphite, these rods exhibit the comfort and features necessary to help you win. When looking for responsive power, economy, and all out ruggedness, there is only one clear choice- Powell Diesel.
This is the part that intrigues me…There is no warranty! Nada! Zip! Zero! Cost of the rod is $70. I like that. I have returned 2 rods my whole life for defects. If I paid just $70 for them I would of tossed them. How do you feel about this? Would you buy a rod for less money knowing it has no warranty? Maybe Powell will start a new trend with this. I for sure am going to buy one when they are back in stock. The initial supplies sold out. Here is a picture from the Powell Website.
