I was on the hunt for a new spinning reel so I asked the members of our trusty forum for a recommendation. The only criteria for me was a set price, and it had to be under $75. I have more expensive reels, but I knew I could get a solid reel for below the $75 price point. After reading the member recommendations and doing a boat load of online research, I settled on the Pflueger President 6935. This will be my review of the Pflueger President for anyone who is considering buying this reel. There is no science behind this, no epic fish catching story to tell you how this reel saved the day, this is just a simple answer as to answer the question “Would I buy this reel again?”.

My Thoughts
Do I like this reel? I like this reel so much I went out and purchased another Pflueger President, this time the 6930 model. The fit and finish of both these reels is solid. The Anti-reverse is in fact instant with no play what so ever. The reel is very smooth, holding it’s own against more expensive model reels that I own. It might not be the lightest reel out there, but to be honest I don’t care about that a bit. The reels balance well on my rods, and that is more important in my opinion. Remember, I am no expert, I’m just Jim.
Are you looking for a reel under the $75 price point? Look no further that the Pflueger President line of reels. They retail for $60, but if you do your homework and are cheap(broke) like me, you can figure out how to get them for a few bucks cheaper. This was my first jump into the Pflueger line and I regret waiting this long. I really love these reels. If you want a solid reel that will not break the bank, trust me and try a Pflueger President reel.I have been abusing these reels for more than 3 months now and I am happy to report that they still rock like they did on day one.
I paid for these reels with my own money so I have nothing to gain or lose. If the reel was junk, I would let you know my experience. If I did not pay for these reels or if they were given to me for a review/test I would let you know that too. TinBoats is here to help each other out, so honesty trumps everything.

Great reels! I’ve been using Presidents for years and never had any issues with them. One of the best values in reels today. I also own an Arbor on which I like the wide spool, but the $20 price premium over the Presidents doesn’t seem worth it for the most part.

I just bought a Pflueger President for my dad last father’s day and I have been very impressed with it. I am very happy with they way it feels and its smoothness on casting and retrieve. This is to date the most money I have ever spent on a reel (broke college kid), but I am completely satisfied with my purchase. I paired it with the 7 ft ugly stick elite and it is a perfect bass setup for around $100.

I inherited a President about 5 years ago I think it’s about 8 yo?. It is very wellmade, 10 bearings, smooth operation and drag. It has a nice wooden handle, casts , retrieves and tackles big fish nicely, a precision machine.

Picked one up last year and matched it up with a Abu Ultra Light from Wally World. What a great little outfit. I couldn’t be happier with it. Have caught bass, crappie, and a few gills so far.
Its like a ferry wand in my hand that catches fish! Reel is smooth as silk! I will be looking at Pfluger for my next reel when needed.
