There is something to be said about the art of custom lure building. I was lucky enough to meet a guy named MuskySlayer96 from a Striper forum I frequent. His real name is Mike and he is one heck of a lure builder. On this particular forum he would post up lures that he would build and paint by hand. I can describe them until my face turns blue, but I will do them no justice. Mike is a big Musky fisherman, but the lures used for Musky fishing can also be used for Striper fishing. What caught my eye one day was this huge Jitterbug looking bait that I thought would be great topwater Striper bait to fish during the slack tides in the Cape Cod canal. If you know what I am talking about, I think you will agree. I asked Mike if he would build me a special lure for a buddy and he did. The lure arrived at my house and I was not expecting any kind of package. I ripped it open and my jaw dropped. I seriously contemplated not giving the lure to my buddy, and I am still having reservations about giving it away. This lure should not be fished, it should be displayed…..Period. I know this lure will catch a big one and it will be put to good use. What you should do is spend a few minutes checking out the custom lures he builds. If you think you might want to order one, contact him direct. Because each one is hand made, painted and assembled, the process can take a long time. Mike does this as a hobby and he is a new dad…..priorities come first which is understandable. I will be placing an order again shortly for a lure of my own.
