I burnt my hands to a crisp in Mexico and when I got back I purchased a pair of Filthy Anglers Fingerless Fishing Gloves. The sun is no joke, but I’m done with sunscreen. I don’t want to have to remember to keep applying sunscreen every few hours. I just don’t care for it on my skin while I’m fishing. Call me paranoid.
What I was looking for was a pair of breathable fingerless gloves that offered protection from the sun. The last thing I need are sweaty paws while I’m baking in the sun. I’m all set with that. I do have a pair of Simms Solarflex SunGloves that were given to me as a gift a couple of years ago, but I just can’t find them. I’m sure they will show up when I least expect it.

I chose these gloves for a few reasons. One reason is that I actually like the color. The second reason is that Filthy Anglers is a small local company, and I do try to support “local”. The gloves are also at the price point I was willing to pay.
I liked the fact that they offer UPF50+ sun protection. The gloves are breathable with a lightweight fabric, and they have pull tabs for easy on and off. I purchased the L/XL size and they fit perfectly. Pretty sexy right? What do you think, could I become a hand-model? Should I insure my hands?
I couldn’t resist and I also picked up a Filthy Angler Climate Shield. While I do use regular neck gaiters on the water, this one matches the cool gloves and most importantly has holes where my mouth and nose are so I can breathe without being hot and steamy. Gross!
Handsome, I know. I’m available for all your modeling needs, just give me a shout. In all seriousness, stay safe out there and protect yourself from the elements. See you on the water!
