I came across a fish finder basics video on YouTube and thought it would be cool to share it. The video is 17 minutes long and explains how side imaging works at a real basic level. You know, something even I could understand. Definitely take the time and watch this video if you are considering a side imaging unit. I also recommend subscribing to the Fish The Moment… ...Read More
The Garmin Panoptix Livescope system looks to me like it’s the real deal if you are looking for a live scan system. I’ve never considered Garmin as a choice for boat electronics because I always associated Garmin with handheld GPS systems. After watching this video and doing a little research, I think this could change, but for a system like this,… ...Read More
Lowrance just sent an email letting everyone know that the Lowrance Ghost is available to order. I was able to see this trolling motor first hand at ICAST 2019 and was impressed with what I saw. I knew this amount of impressiveness would come with a hefty price tag, and I was right. The Lowrance Ghost can be yours for a chest-pain inducing $3000 MSRP. How do I sneak… ...Read More
The rumor that Lowrance is about to introduce a new trolling motor in 2019 is spreading around the internet like wildfire. Lowrance has a teaser video out on YouTube, but besides this 20-second video, there is nothing but speculation. Check back on Lowrance’s Youtube channel for a new announcement on March 15, 2019.

Raymarine is killing it with their Dragonfly series of fishing electronics. The Raymarine Dragonfly 7PRO is the biggest and brightest sonar of the Dragonfly series. The 7PRO is a full featured unit with all the bells and whistles and can be had for $500 or less. I think this unit would be great up front on the boat, or as the main unit for a small tin.

Secondly and more importantly I don’t want to spend hours learning how to use it. That’s my biggest turn-off about buying all these feature rich electronics. I just want to turn the unit on and have it work automatically.… ...Read More

Check out the new Motorguide xi3. It will be available in 2018. The biggest points for me are the out of the box wireless control and their new Stow and Deploy mechanism. I’m not getting any younger, so anything to help me stow and deploy is a win in my book. Check out Motorguide’s link on the xi3. Thoughts on this trolling motor? Who has actual experience… ...Read More

I just read that Garmin is coming out with a new Camera called the Garmin VIRB 360. Looks like it’s going to have some neat features like 5.7k/30fps resolution and 4 built in microphones. That’s huge as we know the sound capture on what’s out there now is OK at best. One thing I saw on the website is that it can constantly record for more than 1 hour… ...Read More
