I want something, ok I actually need something. I want a portable power box so I can power my electronics for a few days while fishing and camping. The question I need to answer is, DIY or buy? It’s not the most difficult thing to make, I still have doubts that I can do it safely and correctly.
Check out this DIY Lithium Power Box Build video on Youtube by North Prairie Life. It’s probably one of the better videos I have seen on this subject and actually fired me up to make my own. Subscribe to the channel as it’s really cool as well. But, after tallying up all the cost and the additional parts for wiring I would need, it might be smarter (and cheaper) for me to just buy one from a reputable company like Ice Hole Power.

There’s something I want that’s a little different than what I have seen, but I’m sure it’s not a show stopper. I am looking for a USB C connection as well. My phones, flashlights, and my iPad are all USB C.
I reached out to Ice Hole Power to see if they have plans to add USB C to their boxes. My decision will be made when they respond. This will be the answer if I will do a DIY Portable Power Box or if it would be smarter of me to modify a ready-made box and just switch out the USB plug.
I know some of you crafty readers have done this. I would love to hear real-world thoughts. As usual, please leave your comments below or message me directly here.
